At-Home Face Masks For Glowing Skin

With all the current uncertainty and stress, the toll on our skin is inevitable.  We are going to talk about two Do-It-Yourself Face Masks that can help keep you looking fresh and feeling great, right from home.

Following your usual skincare regimen is still a good idea, but sometimes you need to freshen up your routine.

These easy, at home face-masks are the way to do it.  Best of all, they’re 100% organic!

Cucumber and sugar mask

Cucumber is filled with Vitamin C and caffeic acid, which have amazing skin benefits. Cucumber is great for the skin as it has hydrating and nourishing properties that help soothe inflammation, balance oil production and reduce puffiness. Sugar also contains glycolic acid, which encourages cell turnover for youthful-looking skin, and its small particles are a great exfoliant as well. We recommend brown sugar because its particles are a bit more gentle on the skin in a homemade face mask, but if you would like more exfoliating qualities, feel free to use white sugar.

How to do it:

  • 1 fresh cucumber
  • 1 tbsp of sugar

Mash together cucumber and some sugar and refrigerate for 1 hour. Apply it onto your face and let it dry. Wash off in about 15 minutes.  Enjoy your hydrated and glowing skin!

Cinnamon and honey face mask

Cinnamon is another powerful ingredient that nature has been kind to give us. It is high in antioxidants, contains anti-inflammatory properties and as a result, it works beautifully on pores and acne.

Honey is naturally antibacterial and is full of antioxidants. This makes it a great remedy for acne and dryness.

How to do it:

  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Powder the cinnamon stick and add a teaspoon of honey to it. Apply it on your skin and leave it for about 10 minutes. Wash off to reveal fresh and clearer skin. Turmeric mask for hyperpigmentation

If you are looking to reduce the hyperpigmentation that often arises with an aging or sun-damaged skin type, try this mask to provide a more even skin tone! Mentioned in Elle Magazine as a great mask to also reduce skin irritation and wrinkles, this turmeric mask is gentle enough to use on dry skin, oily skin, or sensitive skin. And this great diy facemask makes a wonderful complement to our cell repair serum which is clinically developed to enhance your skin’s firmness and elasticity.

How to do it:

  • 1 tbsp of fresh turmeric/ turmeric powder (juiced or pressed)
  • 1 tbsp of fresh lemon juice
  • add water to make to paste
  • 1 tbsp of honey or 1/2 a beaten avocado if you've used juiced turmeric

Just blend the ingredients together and apply the homemade facemask directly to your skin’s hyperpigmented areas only. Leave it on for about 3 minutes, then rinse it off. Applied twice per week for about 5 weeks, will help even your skin tone.

Honey & Baking Soda Face Mask to Reduce Inflammation

This great mask takes advantage of baking soda’s natural anti-inflammatory traits and combines it with the powerful abilities of exfoliating lemon juice and soothing honey. Not only is it great to reduce inflammation in your skin, but it’s also an excellent diy facemask to help reduce acne in oily skin types.

How to do it:

  • 1 teaspoon lemon
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Add lemon juice, honey, and baking soda to a bowl. Blend together well and apply to your whole face and neck if desired while avoiding the eyes (it will sting if you get it in!). Don’t scrub, and leave on for about 10-15 minutes. Afterwards, rinse the homemade face mask with warm water and then finish by washing your clean face with cold water to help close your skin’s pores.

Because lemon makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight, make sure to use this mask in the evenings only, and apply a good sunscreen the next day to protect your glowing skin. Moisturizing and Hydrating Face Mask

This diy facemask blends the health benefits of avocado, honey, and oats in a wonderful way. The fats, compounds, and vitamins found in avocados may help speed skin repair and improve chronic skin conditions like eczema and acne. While honey’s natural antibacterial and humectant ability complements this , the oats’ starches, sugars and oils further increase this mask’s moisturizing ability. Oats are also known to contain a compound called avenanthramides, which acts as both an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.

How to do it:

  • ½ avocado
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • ¼ cup of oats

Mash the avocado, honey, and oats until they create a paste. Apply to whole face with fingers and leave on for at least 15 minutes. Afterwards, rinse your face with warm water to remove the mask.
